Smile Cookies for Hospice Huronia
Tim Hortons Announces Hospice Huronia as the 2021 Smile Cookie Campaign Recipient
Penetanguishene. Tim Hortons Smile Cookie Campaign is back and those cookies are smiling for Hospice Huronia – Tomkins House this year. Starting Monday, September 13, for one week, the iconic chocolate chunk cookies topped with pink and blue icing drawing out a smile will be available at every Tim Hortons restaurant across the country. 100% of proceeds from each cookie is donated to local charities selected by the local Tim Hortons restaurant owners.
“Hospice Huronia is grateful to be chosen as the recipient of the Smile Cookie proceeds” Deb Kesheshian, Executive Director Hospice Huronia states. “Each Smile Cookie sold is a dollar to care for those with a life- limiting illness, at the end-of-life or grieving the loss of a loved one. Many people aren’t aware that 51% of our expenses are covered by funds raised by the community, by individual and corporate donors, events and fundraisers like this one. Cookies bring comfort and that’s what Hospice is all about. It’s a perfect fit!”
Every year, Tim Hortons guests and restaurant owners across the country rally together behind the weeklong Smile Cookie campaign. The Smith family, owners of the Midland, Penetanguishene, Waubaushene and Port Severn Tim Hortons restaurants, along with the Trude family Tim Hortons owners in Midland are excited to see the funds going to support such a needed community resource. “Hospice Huronia opened their residential hospice, Tomkins House, just over a year ago and it’s making a difference in our community. We’re proud to support a charity that is winning the hearts of so many local residents.”
Hospice Huronia’s Tomkins House continues to welcome residents who are at the end of their life journey and support them and their families in a home-like setting. These services, home visiting volunteer support and bereavement support services are free to all thanks in-part to the support we receive from community- led fundraisers like the Smile Cookie campaign this year.
Celebrating its 25th anniversary, the Smile Cookie campaign has raised more than $60 million for charities, hospitals and community programs across the country - with a record-breaking $11 million in 2020.
